Emily Herring Pierce Loviza

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Emily Herring Pierce Loviza died Monday, April 19, 2010, in Nashville, Tenn. She was 79.

A native of Vaiden, Mrs. Loviza was a former Vicksburg resident and had worked as an X-ray technician at Mercy Hospital. She was a longtime resident of Nashville, where she was a member of Lincoya Hills Baptist Church. She was a past officer of the Belle Meade Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Stones River Women’s Club.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John William Loviza of Nashville; three sons, Bill Loviza of Nashville, Tom Loviza of Midlothian, Va., and Mike Loviza of Bear, Del.; one daughter, Alise Loviza of Nashville; a brother, Clarence Pierce of Vaiden; a sister, Carolyn Pierce Boggan of Tupelo; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lincoya Hills Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Road in Nashville.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
