The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation is offering, for the first time, a summer art class for preschool children.

Jumpstart Art, set for June 7-8, will be for ages 3 to 5.

“This is something new that we are doing,” SCHF Executive Director Annette Kirklin said. “We wanted to formulate something fun for the younger kids.”

The SCHF is looking into offering more activities for children in a younger age group, Kirklin said.

Kathy Gibson, a Vicksburg High School art teacher, will teach the kids the basics of art. Children will cut, paste and paint during the two-day class, set for 8 to 11 a.m.

Cost is $20 per child and includes supplies. A parent or adult must accompany the child. Space is limited to 12 students, and reservations are required.
