Bertha White

PORT GIBSON — Bertha White died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at her home in Port Gibson. She was 96.
Mrs. White was a member, mother, former choir member and usher at First Baptist Church of Hermanville. She was a member of Port Heron Chapter No. 91 Order of the Eastern Star, Heroines of Jericho, Baptist Aid, Christian Aid and the Benevolent Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert James White; her parents, Israel and Hattie Spencer Buck; two sons, Lee Otis White and Albert C. White; three grandchildren; four sisters; and four brothers.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary E. Robinson of Hermanville, Ethel Hayes of Chicago and Ruby Stewart of Leesville, La.; one brother, E.T. Buck of Southaven; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at noon Saturday at First Baptist Church in Hermanville with the Rev. Johnnie Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at the Jennings Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 5 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Saturday at the church from 11 a.m. until the service. Family hour will be from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
