Karen Shiers Powers died Monday, April 26, 2010, at her home. She was 46.

Ms. Powers loved to write poetry, cook on the grill and watch NASCAR, and loved her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Shiers and Wydell Allen Shiers; and a brother, Bill Shiers.

Survivors include her two daughters, Felecia Powers and Mary Powers, both of Vicksburg; a son, Austin Powers of Vicksburg; two sisters, Debbie Kackley and Susan Stagg, both of Vicksburg; a brother, Carl Shiers of Avon Park, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Aalyiha Ezell, Elektra Ezell and Claude Ezell Jr.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Vicksburg Gospel Chapel in Vicksburg. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1 today at the church on Redbone Road with Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Claude Ezell, Lynn Kackley, Josh Kackley, Justin Boler, Ricky Ballard and Harly Vickers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Powers, Carl Shiers, Matthew Powers and Edwin Roberts.
