On March 12, Leah Wheeless received the worst news a parent can hear: her only child, David Vantrease, 27, had died.

Fifty-seven years earlier, Billie Abraham — then just 6 years old — received the worst news a child can hear: both her parents had died.

Though in very different stages of mourning such devastating losses, Wheeless and Abraham have teamed to offer yoga classes aimed at helping people deal with grief. The classes, which began Tuesday, are held at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Bovina, where Abraham is rector, and taught by Wheeless, a master yoga instructor.
