Albert Tindell

ST. JOSEPH — Albert “Buddy” Tindell died Friday, May 7, 2010, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. He was 84.
Mr. Tindell was born in Newellton, was a resident of St. Joseph and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was retired from the Fifth District Levee Board and was a barber and farmer. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Tindell served in the Pacific Theatre, Manilla, Philippine Islands, Marshall Islands and Elucian Islands. He also served with the Air Force in the 15th Fighter squadron in Honolulu.
Mr. Tindell was preceded in death by his father, Albert Tindell; mother, Mary Tindell; brother, Morris Tindell; and sister, Emma Kifer.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen “Lady” Tindell of St. Joseph; his daughter, Kayla Sevier of Tallulah; two sisters, Mardell Osborn of Naples, Fla., and Margie Redditt of Hendersonville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Baptist Church, with The Rev. Joe Odenwald officiating. Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery with Young’s Funeral Home of Ferriday in charge.
Visitation will be at the church from 8:30 a.m. Monday until the service.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Jones, Brian Kifer, Lee Kifer, David McEachern, Milford McVay, L.J. Thompson, Barry Tindell and Keith Tindell.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Jubilee Sunday School Class, Bob Nall, Whit Jones and Charles Gastrell.
Memorial donations may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home or a charity of your choice.
