Vikings ready to put positive finish on spring drills

An hour before his players arrived for practice Monday, new Warren Central coach Josh Morgan walked into an office where his father, Robert, was sitting at a desk. The younger Morgan laid out a plan for a tackling drill he wanted to try that afternoon. When Robert Morgan couldn’t quite grasp the concept, his son quickly demonstrated the technique.
It was a small moment, but a slice of life for the Vikings these days. As spring practice winds down, change is in the air — a new coach and players, as well as some new philosophies for a new era.
“It’s not just with the coaching change. We graduated a good bit of seniors and it’s a new start for everybody,” Josh Morgan said, adding of the three-week spring practice period, “This helps me out. I’ve been waiting to jump on it as quick as I could. The new ideas, we’ll see how they work. From stretching and how we practice, see how the kids pick them up.”
