Achievements
• Corey Cooper has been elected president of the Student Government Association at Alcorn State University. A 2008 graduate of Vicksburg High School, he is the son of Arlen Cooper and Gary Cooper, both of Vicksburg.
• James Gerache has been recognized by the U.S. Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in mathematics, honor roll and football. A student at Warren Central High School, he was nominated for the award by teacher Shelia Erves. His name will appear in the academy’s official yearbook. He has also been selected for membership into the National Society of High School Scholars for his superior academic excellence. He is the son of Johnny and Ginger Gerache of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of Joe and Ann Gerache and the late Joanne Gerache of Vicksburg and Ada Poole and the late James Poole of Satellite Beach, Fla.
• Raven L. London has been named a U.S. National Award winner in mathematics and soccer the by U.S. Achievement Academy. A student at Vicksburg Junior High School, she was nominated for the award by teacher and coach Terence James. She has also been recognized for academic achievement as a U.S. National Honor Student Award winner. Her name will appear in the academy’s official yearbook. She is the daughter of Stefanie A. Roman and Raymond L. London of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Charles McFarland of Bastrop, La.; the late Delia Roman of New York, N.Y.; and Rosetta London and the late Edgar London of Vicksburg.
• Hannah Koester of Vicksburg has been recognized as a Distinguished Honors Scholar through Hinds Community College’s Institute for Honors and Leadership Studies.
Awards
• Jane Lauderdale Flowers of Vicksburg has received the Hinds Community College 3-E Award for Emphasis on Excellence and Enrichment, the highest employee award presented. She serves as work-based learning coordinator at HCC’s Vicksburg-Warren campus, where she has been employed for 26 years. She is a 1973 graduate of Hinds, and she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Mississippi State University.
Degrees
• Donica Minor Hill of Little Elm, Texas, has received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in education from Louisiana Baptist University. A graduate of Warren Central High School, she is the daughter of Edward and Lillie Minor. She and her husband, Shondrick Hill, have two daughters.
• Charlene Lawrence-Mosley of Vicksburg has graduated with a Master of Science degree in biology from Alcorn State University.
Honor rolls
• Natalee Mae Pope of Vicksburg has been named to the spring term president’s list at Mississippi Delta Community College.
Honor societies
• Jasmine Michelle Warfield of Cary has been inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta honor society at Jackson State University based on a cumulative grade average of 3.5 or better during her first term of college. She is the daughter of Mildred and Eugene Warfield and the granddaughter of the late William and Lubertha Shears, all of Cary.
