Tommy Ivey

PORT GIBSON — Tommy “Son” Ivey died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at his daughter’s home. He was 74.

Mr. Ivey was a lifelong resident of Claiborne and Warren counties. He served in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Natchez Trace Park Service as district supervisor after 27 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lee and Minnie Mae Ivey; a sister, Margaret Ivey Roberts; a granddaughter, Jennifer Renne Beaube; and a great-grandson, Michael Austin Flowers.

Survivors include his wife, Doris C. Ivey of Port Gibson; two sons, Edward Mathes and Ernest “Roy” Mathes, both of Vicksburg; five daughters, Brenda Mitchell of Hazlehurst, Karen Redden of Utica and Tammy Evans, Anita Day and Tommy Ivery Green, all of Vicksburg; four brothers, W.L. Ivey and Leon Ivey, both of Port Gibson, Roy Ivey of Vicksburg and Carl Lewis Ivey of Courtland, Miss.; four sisters, Linnie Dillard of Wesson, Katherine Twiner of Hazlehurst, Nina Farrish of Brookhaven and Alice Cranfield of Lorman; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Antioch Cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Maher officiating. Visitation is from 5 until 7 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Edward Mathes, Butch Landers, Tim Ivey, Joshua Barlow, Mike Flowers, Shawn Crapps, Anthony D’Arienzo and Randy Cranfield.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Moore, Ronnie Ivey, Mark Green, Ricky Evans, Tommy Beaube, Stephen Barlow, Brady Green, Parker Green and Tanner Green.
