More than 100 senior-level soldiers from 13 states were to arrive at the Vicksburg Convention Center today to begin a four-day conference on current and emerging engineer practices in theater.

“They’re coming from all over the command,” for an overview of how engineers provide support in the battlefield, said Maj. Jesse Stalder, public affairs officer for the 412th Engineer Command.

Brig. Gen. William Buckler will have a live teleconference Thursday during the 412th’s Theater Engineer Operation Course, part of the annual Joint War Fighter Seminar.

As part of this year’s theme, reaching the vision through a culture of greatness, combat engineers who have or are currently serving in Iraq or Afghanistan will share information through Sunday, Stalder said.

The course is designed to teach engineers about intricacies involved in working with Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force engineers, he said.
