The Mississippi Titans, an 18-and-under travel team from Vicksburg, made it to the championship game of the season-opening Hinds Community College Tournament on Sunday.

The Titans defeated both the Jackson 96ers U17 and U18 teams. On Saturday, the Titans downed the 96ers’ U17 team 10-1 in five innings. On Sunday, they beat the 96ers senior team 2-1. Montana McDaniel pitched five innings of no-hit ball and Blake Jobe threw three innings of one-hit ball to grab the win. L.J. Hollins, a Southern Miss signee from Madison Central, took the loss.

The Titans were led at the plate by Vicksburg High’s Lamar Anthony, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and a stolen base that set up his game-winning run.
