William “Bill” H. Byrd Jr. died Monday, May 31, 2010, at River Region Medical Center. He was 51.

Mr. Byrd was born in Benoit to William Harrison and Mary Frances Gladwell Byrd Sr. He was a former farmer and had worked in construction in the Vicksburg area. He was of the Baptist faith and was a hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by two sisters, Janet Gail Butler and Geraldine Hollings, both of Rosedale; a brother, John Edward Byrd of Long Beach; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews; and a special friend, Debbie McDaniel of Redwood.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Beulah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be John Hollings, James Bunch, John Gilbert Sr., John Gilbert Jr., Henry Gilbert and Randy Marquis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard “Clint” Anthony, Robert Anthony, Bobby Fraize and Jason Hatcher.
