Stamm meet wraps up second day of action

The Mississippi Makos built their advantage to an unassailable one on the second day of the Stamm Family Invitational swim meet held at the city pool.

The meet wraps up today.

The Makos lead the team scores with 1,232 points. A distant second is the Sunkist Swim Team with 392.5 and the Vicksburg Swimming Association is third with 265.

Event winners for the VSA were Wally Wibowo in the boys’ ages 13-14 100-meter breaststroke and Emily Sluis in the girls’ 100-meter breaststroke.

Top finishers for the VSA in the morning session were: Mallory Claire Dickey, third in the girls’ ages 9-10 40-meter backstroke and fifth in the 100-meter freestyle; Slade Kingston-Miles, who finished fifth in the boys’ ages 9-10 50-meter backstroke; Chip Fields, fourth in the boys’ ages 11-12 100-meter breaststroke; and Gabriel Riveros, who was fifth in the boys’ ages 11-12 50-meter fly.

The girls’ ages 12 and under 200-meter freestyle relay team of Allison Nunnelee, Katelyn Brock, Mya Chappell and Dickey finished fourth, while boys’ 12 and under 200-meter freestyle relay team of Conner Clark, Riveros, Griffin Nunnelee and Slade Kingston-Miles was third.

In the girls’ ages 13-14 200-meter individual medley, Shelby Kuiper of the Makos was first, with the top VSA finisher being Blaine Butler in ninth place.

In the boys’ ages 13-14 200-meter individual medley, Jackson Kojima took top honors, trailed by VSA’s Wally Wibowo.

In the girls’ 200-meter individual medley, Laura Leigh Smith took top honors and VSA’s top finisher was Cicly Chiarito in sixth.

In the boys’ 200-meter IM, Ben Vaughan was first, with Hunter Anderson the top VSA swimmer in sixth.

Delta Aquatic’s Mary Clay Kline took the girls’ ages 13-14 100-meter freestyle crown, while Butler was the top VSA finisher in ninth.

Delta Aquatic’s Patrick Lane was first in the boys’ ages 13-14 100-meter freestyle, with VSA’s Wibowo right behind him in second.

In the girls’ 100-meter freestyle, the Makos’ Smith was first, with the top VSA finisher being Sluis in eighth.

In the boys’ 100-meter freestyle, Thorburn McGee of the Makos was first, with VSA’s Matt Shoenberger a few ticks back in third.

In the girls’ ages 13-14 backstroke, Kuiper of the Makos took top honors, with Afton Wallace of the VSA in eighth.

In the boys’ ages 13-14 backstroke, Lane of Delta Aquatic was first, with Dixon Stone as the VSA’s top finisher in seventh.

In the girls’ 200-meter backstroke, Smith of the Makos was first, while Liz Rayfield was the top VSA finisher in seventh. In the boys’ 200-meter backstroke, Vaughan of the Makos was first, while Stone was the top VSA finisher in fifth.
