A Vicksburg father and gospel performer, along with a local singing group, will host an inaugural event tonight to honor fathers.

Our Father In Heaven Father’s Day Celebration will kick off at 5 p.m. at Healing Place Church on Grove Street.

“It’s for our youths and getting fathers together,” said Dennis Wright, event organizer and gospel performer. “There’s still some good fathers around, and they should get some recognition too.”

Rick McAlister, pastor of Healing Place, said, “We want to do something to promote Father’s Day and men. It’s interdenominational. It’s not just a performance, but a good time for worship.”
