C. John O’Neill III

PADUCAH, Ky. — C. John “Jack” O’Neill III, 81, of Paducah, Ky., formerly of Vicksburg, passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2010, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. O’Neill was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, where he was a eucharistic minister and a past president of St. Francis de Sales Parish Council, a past director of the Catholic Youth Organization, a purchasing agent for Hannan Supply, a graduate of Georgetown University and past president of Vicksburg Rotary Club. He received the Paul Harris Fellow with the Paducah Rotary Club, was past president of O’Neill-McNamara Hardware in Vicksburg, a member of Knights of Columbus, an Eagle Scout, a Duke of Paducah, a Kentucky Colonel and a U.S. Army Reserve veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Louise Wurth O’Neill; one daughter, Mary Eileen Schutt and her husband, Wally, of Florence, Miss.; three sons, Cornelius John “Sean” O’Neill IV of Florence, Hugh Patrick O’Neill of Baton Rouge, La., and Owen Gregory O’Neill of Minneapolis, Minn.; two grandchildren, Shannon Schutt and Joseph Schutt, both of Florence; two brothers, Edwin Bennett O’Neill of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Robert William O’Neill of Birmingham, Ala.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius John O’Neill Jr. and Edna Helgason O’Neill.

A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Buckman officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2010, with prayers at 6:30 p.m. at Milner and Orr Funeral Home in Paducah. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service time of 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
