The Mississippi Titans, a Vicksburg-based summer baseball team, won their pool and advanced to the championship game of the Louisiana Invitational wooden bat tournament in Eunice, La. last weekend.

The Titans, coached by former Chicago Cubs outfielder Roosevelt Brown, made it to the finals of the 16-team tournament but lost 10-8 to Gauthier-Amadee of East Ascension Parish, La. on Sunday afternoon at LSU-Eunice. Gauthier-Amadee was the runner-up in the 2009 Louisiana American Legion state tournament.

The Titans opened pool play by beating the host Eunice Oilers 1-0. On Saturday, the Titans split a pair of games but still managed to win the pool. They beat the All-Star 17’s Blue 9-1, then lost 7-2 to Jays Baseball.
