Nolan R. Salassi

Nolan R. Salassi died, Friday, June 25, 2010, in Zachary, La. He was 79.

Mr. Salassi served his country in the military for 26 years. He was a fourth-degree knight in the Knights of Columbus and a Knight Commander in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. He was a devout Catholic and faithful servant for many years. For the last year, he served his church by setting up the altar for priests and deacons, leading the weekly rosary, and being an altar server and Eucharistic minister to shut-ins.

Mr. Salassi was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Regina Dupuy Salassi; two brothers, Guy and Pete Salassi; and a sister, Edna White.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline Thompson Salassi of Zachary; three daughters, Claudia and husband Richard “Rich” Sandman of Katy, Texas, and Debbie Salassi and Sandy Lemoine, both of Kenner, La.; one brother, Eddie Salassi of Welsh, La.; one granddaughter, Brittany Sandman, and one great-granddaughter, Brianna Sandman, both of Katy, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. P.J. Curley officiating. Burial, under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home, will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday at 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
