Bethan Shirley Smollen Pearson was born in Cardiff, Wales, on June 5, 1989, and joined her heavenly father on July 5, 2010. She was a resident of Vicksburg and a former resident of New Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Reddi, and her sister, Sita Reddi, and her paternal grandfather, Joseph W. “Bill” Smollen III.
She leaves to cherish and honor her memories, her loving and devoted husband, Blake Pearson; her father, Joseph W. “Bill” Smollen V; her caring and loving grandmother, Shirley N. Smollen; her aunt, Carlene Smollen Fleming; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Bethan was very involved as a student at Millsaps College, where she was in the Millsaps Singers, Student Body Association, College Republicans, Wellspring, a student senator and in charge of the Academic Affairs Committee, and was the chair of the “Lunch with the Deans” series. She loved singing and being in the Student Body Association. She was also very involved this summer at church helping with the children at Vacation Bible School and enjoyed her love for the Lord.
Bethan was loved by many. Her friends and professors at Millsaps College said the campus lit up when she walked across it, and that she did things for that college that had never been done before.
Bethan enjoyed spending her summer down on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and said this was the happiest she had ever been. She and her husband had planned to one day move to the coast to enjoy their lives together.
Services for Bethan Pearson are private, and those closest to her and her family are welcome to attend the memorial service at the Stained Glass Manor in Vicksburg at 2 p.m. Saturday.
