Arp picks swimming pool for crime-prevention stunt

Retired Vicksburg police officer Doug Arp will fire up support for the 27th annual National Night Out Against Crime by cooling off in a swimming pool at the Culkin Volunteer Fire Station.
His goal each year is to remind Warren County and Vicksburg neighbors of their role in crime fighting and, this year, to “pool their resources against crime.”
It is Arp’s 16th year of bringing attention to the national crime prevention campaign and he will spend a week — starting July 26 — in a 20-foot-by-4-foot swimming pool at the station at Freetown and Culkin roads.
“I think we’re going to have a really good turnout,” said Arp. “Pooling your resources is really what it’s about.”
