A house on U.S. 61 South was a “total loss” following a Saturday morning blaze, LeTourneau Volunteer Fire Department Chief Bobby Pell said.

“The owners, we were told, were in Florida vacationing,” Pell said of the home at 9060 U.S. 61 South.

Pell said the small wood-frame house was “totally involved” when the LeTourneau department arrived around 6:30 a.m. with two engines. They were joined by another engine from the Fisher Ferry Volunteer Fire Department, as well as members of the Culkin and Bovina volunteer departments. The blaze was under control within about 45 minutes, Pell said.

“We don’t really know what started the fire,” the volunteer chief said.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Department and State Fire Marshal’s Office have been called on to investigate, Pell said.
