Genevieve Whites Woodman Johnson

Genevieve Whites Woodman Johnson died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Promise Hospital of Vicksburg.
Bertha Genevieve “Genny” Whites was born at home in Kansas City, Mo., July 12, 1916. She was the daughter of the late William Franklin Whites and Bessie Leona Griffith Whites.
She grew up in Rolla, Mo., where she graduated from Rolla High School. In 1933, she married Eugene Harvey Woodman, moving to Vicksburg where she had two children, Robert Clarence Woodman and Betty Jean Woodman. In 1949, she married Roy Augustus Johnson and had two sons, Ronold Roy Johnson and Rodney Glenn Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson was active in the Vicksburg Little Theatre and the Vicksburg Jaycettes. She was a member of the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She is survived by three children, Robert Woodman of Petal, Betty W. Smith of Vicksburg and Rodney Johnson of Yazoo City; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clarence Whites of Kansas City.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Justin and Vernon; her husbands; and a son, Ronold.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010, at Riles Funeral Home with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will be at Green Acres Cemetery.
Memorial services for Mrs. Johnson will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010, at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall on Boy Scout Road.
