Big fun for seniors

Published 12:30 am Saturday, July 24, 2010

I frequently go to the Senior Center on South Street. On June 11, Jennifer Harper, director, planned a picnic for us all. She contacted Rainbow Casino, which provided lunches for all of us.

I am not talking about a box with a dried-out sandwich in it. There was a variety of four different meats with very generous portions, plus condiments, chips and cookies. Jennifer had a cooler full of ice and bottles of water for us all. It was wonderful, and this is not just my opinion. I have spoken with many attendees who all felt the same.

I have a question for your readers. If you are 50 years old or older and haven’t been to the Senior Center, why not? Jennifer and Arvita Avant, who work there, are wonderfully friendly and giving to all. There is a calendar of activities every month.

We frequently play dominoes or cards. All newcomers are very welcome.

Please come some time, if for no other reason than to pick up a schedule.
