Fifteen auto burglaries were reported in the past two days in Vicksburg, and authorities believe nine of them, in adjacent neighborhoods off U.S. 61 South, are related, Vicskburg police said.

Separately, two men were arrested Wednesday after a customer at Kroger reported three men had broken into her vehicle while it was parked in the lot on Pemberton Square Boulevard.

The first of the two arrested, Thomas Dearman, 17, Battlefield Campground Lot 13 4407 N. Frontage Road, was nabbed at Murphy gas station, 4103 Pemberton Square Blvd., minutes after the victim told police her purse was stolen, Sgt. Sandra Williams said.

The second suspect, Tommy Lee Johnson, 40, no address given, took off on foot from the gas station and was arrested in the 100 block of Santa Rosa Drive in nearby Marion Park Subdivision, Williams said.

She said police are looking for the third suspect, and the three might be linked to a similar burglary at the Kroger lot on Friday.

Dearman, she said, also is a suspect in a business burglary on Dabney Street on July 16, Williams said.

Both men were charged with auto burglary and were being held in the Warren County Jail without bond.

The auto burglaries, only some of which yielded goods, were reported Wednesday and this morning.

On Wednesday, thefts were reported in Warrenton Heights subdivision off U.S. 61 South and Redbone Road, on Linda Drive, Maple Drive, Ethel Drive, Manship Circle and Belva Drive.

Among items stolen were:

• An iPod, charger and a pair of sunglasses from a 2009 Ford Mustang in the 300 block of Linda Drive, reported at 3:54 p.m.

• A Panasonic CD player, a wallet and contents from a 1996 Mazda Protege in the 100 block of Maple Circle at 11:33 a.m.

• A Canon digital camera from a 2007 Honda Civic in the 100 block of Ethel Drive at 8:27 a.m.

• Nothing from a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado in the 200 block of Manship Circle at 7:30 a.m. or from a 1999 Ford Expedition in the 100 block of Belva Drive at 7:06 a.m.

In reports filed this morning nothing was reported missing, but Williams said she believes they are related to the Wednesday break-ins. Vehicles entered in the 300 block of Northridge Drive were:

• A 1993 Mazda at 4:18 a.m.

• A 1993 Subaru Legacy at 4:01 a.m.

• A 1999 Nissan at 3:09 a.m.

Nearby, in the 700 block of Belva Drive, a Pioneer stereo was reported stolen from a 1996 Chevrolet 1500.

In other areas throughout the city, which Williams said she does not believe are related to the thefts off 61 South, electronics and a purse were missing.

Walkie Talkie radios and an iPhone car charger were reported missing at 9:11 p.m. from a 2007 Pontiac Vibe in the 3300 block of Drummond Street, and a Compaq laptop computer was reported missing at 10:15 a.m. from a 1997 Honda Civic in the 100 block Ethel Street.

At 8:21 a.m., a purse and makeup were reported stolen from a 2006 Mazda 6 in the Marriott Courtyard, 1 Underwood Drive.

In Warren County, at 2:47 this morning, a pickup in the 3800 block of Redwood Road was reported entered but nothing was reported missing.

At 8:39 a.m. Wednesday, an amplifier, speakers, cologne and CDs were reported stolen from a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the 7000 block of U.S. 61 South.
