The Rev. David Brown

The Rev. David Brown died Friday, July 16, 2010, in West Monroe, La. He was 63.

Rev. Brown was born in Sicily Island, La. He was ordained a deacon at Mount Rose M.B. Church in Sicily Island and moved to New Orleans, where he attended Second Truelove Baptist Church. He also attended St. Luke M.B. Church and was a member of Calvary M.B. Church as a resident of Monroe.

He served as a licensed and ordained minister for 33 years. He was a member of the Louisiana Baptist Convention and the National Baptist Convention USA. He was serving as circuit pastor of St. James M.B. Church in Sterlington, La., Hopewell M.B. Church in Corey, La., First Baptist Church in Clayton, La., East Star M.B. and Pleasant Grove No. 2 M.B. churches in Tallulah and Ebenezer M.B. and Bethlehem M.B. churches of Vicksburg.

Rev. Brown was a recording artist.

Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn L. Brown; three sons, Clevon Brown, Benard Brown and Ralphael Brown; a daughter, Margaret Brown; his father, David Brown Sr.; eight siblings; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem M.B. Church, 3055 N. Washington St., with the Rev. Byron Maxwell officiating, assisted by the Rev. Michael Reed. Tennant Mortuary of Rayville, La. has charge of arrangements.
