A hot, brutal day unleashed its fury on just about everyone not named Chase Smith.

The Delta State University senior golfer won the Warren County Championship for the fourth straight year after shooting a consistent, even-par round of 72 Sunday afternoon at Clear Creek Golf Course.

Warren Central’s Parker Rutherford, playing in the second-to-last group, had an eagle at No. 9 and then played the back nine at 2-over to finish in second place in the championship flight at 148. The back-to-back 74s left Rutherford eight shots behind Smith’s two-round total of 140.
