The body of a 23-year-old was found Monday night on a Hinds County road between Edwards and Bolton, Hinds County District 2 Supervisor Douglas Anderson said.

Between 7 and 8 p.m., a motorist found the body with evidence of trauma in a ditch beside Billy Fields Road about 3 miles east of Edwards.

Hinds County authorities identified the man as Robert Earl Hill Jr., who appeared to have died from multiple gunshot wounds, Anderson said.

Anderson said officials also believe Hill’s vehicle was stolen.

Hinds County Sheriff’s Department sources said no information was being released in the case, which was under investigation.
