National Night Out Against Crime events

Activities, along with refreshments, begin at 6 tonight at:

• Kings Community Empowerment Center, 224 R.L. Chase Circle — performance by Silent Worshiping Mime Team; speeches by North Ward Alderman Michael Mayfield, Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong, Dean Anderson of Mothers Against Drunk Driving and representatives from Warren County Children’s Shelter and Vicksburg Family Development; 8 p.m.: basketball game, Vicksburg police and firefighters.

• Trinity Baptist Church, 3365 Porters Chapel Road — Face-painting, Space Jump, ring toss and basketball.

• Kroger, 3508 Pemberton Square Blvd. — Face-painting, egg walk race, ring toss, pie-eating contest.

• Bowmar Baptist Church, 1825 U.S. 61 South — Praise team performance, face-painting, pie-eating contest, art activities; speeches by Mayor Paul Winfield, Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong and a representative of House Family Shelter.

• South Street Shoppette, 1318 South St. — Food and music.
