PORT GIBSON — Sarah Jane Norrell died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at her home. She was 71.

Mrs. Norrell was a member of St. Peter’s M.B. Church where she was an usher and church secretary. She was a member of Golden Star Chapter No. 92, Order of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Patterson and Haze Claiborne; and her husband, Roger Norrell.

Survivors include a son, James Norrell of Louisville, Miss.; three daughters, Shirley Claiborne of Orlando, Lavonne Cooper and Michelle White, both of Port Gibson; three brothers, Curtis Patterson, Alfred Patterson and McArthur Patterson, all of Chicago; three sisters, Annie Patterson and Georgia Ellis, both of Chicago, and Willie B. Sayles of Pattison; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mercy Seat M.B. with the Rev. Troy Smith, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter M.B. Church Cemetery in Pattison. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home with family hour from 6 until 7 at St. Peter M.B. Church and Sunday at the church fro
