Six sentenced in circuit courtrooms

In Warren County Circuit Court for the week ending Friday:

• Reginald Gaines, 23, was found guilty of violating probation and sentenced by Judge Isadore Patrick to five years in prison followed by two years of probation, plus $566 in fines and court costs. Gaines was arrested Feb. 24, 2005, for arson of a dwelling and felony malicious mischief.

• Marvin Terrell James, 28, 1201 South St., Apt. 305, pleaded guilty to statutory rape, victim age 14 or 15, and was sentenced by Judge M. James Chaney to 10 years in prison followed by five years of probation, plus a $1,000 fine and $622.50 in fees and costs. James was arrested May 26, 2009.

• Jennie Lynn Lowery, 27, 1019 First North St., pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to the Ninth Circuit Court Drug Court Program for a period not to exceed five years, plus a $1,000 fine and $1,122.50 in fees and costs. Lowery was arrested Dec. 7.

• Kimberly McCarty, 36, 508 Tasha Drive, Biloxi, was found guilty of violating probation and sentenced by Patrick to one year in the Mississippi Department of Corrections Intensive Supervision Program (house arrest) followed by probation according to McCarty’s original sentence, plus $3,878.11 in total fines, fees and costs. MDOC supervision for McCarty, who was arrested in Warren County Jan. 9, 2007, for false pretense, was transferred by Patrick to Jackson County.

• James H. Strickland, 64, 5236 Oak Ridge Road, after pleading guilty June 25 to fondling a child for lustful purposes, was sentenced by Patrick to 10 years in prison followed by five years of probation, plus a $5,000 fine and $1,322.50 in fees and costs. Strickland was arrested June 16.

In Sharkey County:

• Kenrick Powell, 26, 165 Hunt Road, Rolling Fork, was found guilty of violating probation and sentenced by Patrick to two years in prison, with credit for time served, plus $1,607 in fines and costs. Powell was arrested Nov. 24, 2004, for possession of a controlled substance.
