A Vicksburg man was arrested Saturday night for his third offense DUI at a safety checkpoint operated by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol.
Norh Taylor, 46, 1501 Military Ave., was arrested at a checkpoint on U.S. 80 at 10:53 p.m. after failing a breath test given on site, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.
He was charged with DUI third offense, a felony, and held in the Warren County Jail without bond pending an initial hearing this morning.
During the Saturday night checkpoints also conducted at U.S. 61 North and Mississippi 27, authorities arrested four more people for DUI, two for outstanding warrants and one for possession of marijuana, all misdemeanors. Authorities wrote 15 hazardous violation citations, which include speeding and reckless driving, and 93 nonhazardous violation citations that include expired tags and inspection stickers.
Pace said the areas checked were in the county limits and where authorities said numerous wrecks have been reported.
