Vicksburg High claimed a forfeit win Tuesday when Hazlehurst showed up nearly an hour late for their scheduled game at Halls Ferry Park.

Vicksburg coach Michelle Fisackerly said numerous unsuccessful attempts were made to reach Hazlehurst coaches and school officials when Hazlehurst didn’t arrive in time for the 5 p.m. junior varsity game. Shortly before the scheduled 6 p.m. start of the varsity game the decision was made to call it a forfeit. Hazelhurst’s bus rolled into the parking lot about 10 minutes later. By then, most of the fans, players and umpires had dispersed.

“They didn’t show up and they didn’t call,” Fisackerly said.
