Gavel for DAR part of George Washington tree

During a meeting Saturday of Vicksburg’s Ashmead chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Constitutional scholar Linda Monk presents Mary Landin, chapter regent, with a gavel carved from a tree planted by George Washington at his estate at Mount Vernon.
