Luester Charity Mackey

LORMAN — Luester Charity Mackey died Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at River Region Medical Center. She was 72.
Mrs. Mackey was born in Lorman to Maggie Scott and James A. Henry. She was a retired educator and a member of the Heroines of Jericho, Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association, Missionary Society and Zion Chapel Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tony G. Mackey.
Survivors include 12 children, Robert Mackey, Rene Mackey, Gevionni Mackey, Comolita Bailey and Josephine Johnson, all of Lorman, James D. Mackey and Jane Mackey, both of Dallas, Sarah Johnson and Clara Henry, both of St. Louis, Michael Mackey of Las Vegas, Treveonne D. Mackey of Fayette and Connie Shelvy of Vicksburg; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Waterloo Baptist Church in Lorman with the Rev. Barry Thompson officiating, assisted by Elder George Willis Tyler. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill in Rodney. Visitation will be from 2 until 7 today at Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
