Ivey, Burnett marry at Crawford Street UMC

Joseph Brian Ivey Jr. and Leah Katherine Burnett were married June 26, 2010, at Crawford Street United Methodist Church. Dr. Walter Lee Frazier, stepfather of the bride, officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Walter Lee Frazier and Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Kelly Burnett, all of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Franklin Cowart Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. James Douglas Burnett, all of Vicksburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lee Frazier of Yulee, Fla. She is the great-granddaughter of Mrs. William Woodrow Sultan Sr. of Vicksburg.

The groom is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Brian Ivey of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lee Thornton of Panama City, Fla.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nix Ivey of Walkersville, Md.; and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Marshall Kelly of Jasper, Ala.

Given in marriage by Jeffrey Kelly Burnett, the bride’s chosen colors were white and azure blue.

Nuptial selections were presented by Dorothy Brasfield, organist; Elias Arredondo, trumpeter; and Leon Henry, Brock Winstead and Daniel Ivey, brother of the groom, soloists.

Maids of honor were Alexandra Kathleen Cowart, cousin of the bride, of Oxford and Olivia Tess Frazier, sister of the bride, of Vicksburg. Matron of honor was Anna Victoria Burnett, sister of the bride, of Starkville.

Bridesmaids were Laurin Ishee Bailey and Jennifer Waddle Hite, both of Brandon; Ashlee Nicole Hardin of Vicksburg; Sidney Allyson Walker of Starkville; and Mary Elizabeth Carnell of Ripley, Tenn. Junior bridesmaid was Lyndsey Loring Cowart, cousin of the bride, of Vicksburg.

Honorary bridesmaids were Sarah Michele Mitchell of Hattiesburg, Christina Angeline Roberts of Clarksdale, Courtney Marie Weaver of Vicksburg and Sarah Catherine Wisner of Natchez.

The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were William Jeffrey Burnett, brother of the bride, Andrew Cole Embry, Ryan Maxwell Hoben and Daniel Alexander Ivey, brother of the groom, all of Vicksburg, and William Thomas Henry of Madison.

Usher was Richard Franklin Cowart lll of Oxford.

Flower girls were Kendall Grace Parsons, cousin of the groom, of Nashville, Tenn., and Ashley Anne Vinson, cousin of the bride, of San Antonio, Texas. Ring bearers were Zachary Allen Cowart of Vicksburg and Sawyer Stephen Herbel of San Antonio, Texas, cousins of the bride.

Scripture reader was Gloria Helen Sultan Baker, great-aunt of the bride, of San Antonio.

Cross bearer was Mason James Herbel, cousin of the bride, of San Antonio.

Serving as program attendants were Cara Noel Chism and Margaret Lea Medders, both of Madison, and Aubrey Jane Parsons, cousin of the groom, of Nashville.

Hostesses were Faye Cowart, great-aunt of the bride, and Cheri Howell and Mallory Henley, cousins of the bride.

Kathy Ricks and Rose Dykes served as special wedding assistants.

A reception followed at the B’nai Brith Literary Club.

For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to Riviera Maya, Mexico. They will make their home in Madison.

The bride is employed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and the groom is employed with Southern Farm Bureau.

Rehearsal dinner

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Roca Restaurant.

Bridesmaids’ luncheon

A bridesmaids’ luncheon was held at the B’nai B’rith Literary Club. Hostesses were Gloria Baker, aunt of the bride, and Betsy Herbel and Mary Anne Vinson, cousins of the bride.

Bachelorette party

The bridesmaids honored the bride with a bachelorette party.

Engagement celebration

The bridal couple was honored with an engagement celebration at Roca Restaurant. Host couples were Mr. and Mrs. Dean Andrews, Mr. and Mrs. Todd Boolos, Dr. and Mrs. James Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cowart, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cowart Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cowart, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hudspeth, Dr. and Mrs. Donald Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. James Leech, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morrison lll, Mr. and Mrs. James Penley Jr., Mr. and Mrs. D.P. The ladies of Highland Baptist Church honored the bride with a miscellaneous shower in the fellowship hall of the church.
