Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant to headline Vicksburg Tea Party rally

Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant will headline a list of keynote speakers at a rally Saturday at City Park Pavilion organized by the Vicksburg Tea Party and 912 Vicksburg Inc.

The first-term president of the Mississippi Senate and oft-mentioned gubernatorial hopeful in 2011 will take the stage last in a six-hour political and entertainment extravaganza beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. Food and beverages will be sold, and a free shuttle service will be available for overflow parking.

Other speakers will include Bill Marcy, the Republican challenger to U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson in the Nov. 2 general election, state Rep. Alex Monsour, R-Vicksburg. Mississippi humorist Paul Ott, former actor Tom Lester and Roy Nicholson, who chairs the Mississippi Tea Party. The rally will be emceed by local radio personality Tommy “Colonel Tom” Parker. Admission is free, though donations will be accepted.
