A Rayville, La., man died early Sunday morning after a single-car wreck in Madison Parish, authorities said.

James Caster, 31, was pronounced dead at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, said Trooper First Class Mark Dennis of the Louisiana State Police.

Dennis said Caster was southbound on Louisiana 577 around 2:30 a.m. when he lost control of his 1992 Ford F-150, which ran off the road and struck a tree.

The vehicle kept running and was found submerged in a nearby creek, Dennis said.

In 2010, 31 people have died in 29 fatal crashes investigated by Louisiana State Police Troop F.
