Thomas F. Chady

Thomas F. Chady died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at home. He was 59 years old.
Born in Fort Atkinson, Wis., Mr. Chady had been a Vicksburg resident since 1987. He was a member of many church and civic organizations, including active membership in the Boy Scouts of America for 40 years. Most recently, he had been a recipient of the District Award of Merit, the Silver Beaver Award and the Saint George Award. Tom was a lifetime member of the Eagle Scout Association, as well as a member of the Friends of Scouting and the chairman of the Mississippi Eagle Board.
Mr. Chady was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister and past president of the Parish Council. He served on various financial and building committees. Mr. Chady was also a member of the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher.
Tom was a past member of the Vicksburg Catholic School Board.
He was a current member of the Catholic Foundation Board.
Tom was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 898 and Assembly 558, where he served various offices. He served as Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator, financial secretary and treasurer. Mr. Chady was re-charter chairman for the Ladies Auxiliary, as well as chairman of the Squires and of RSVP organization, and held various other positions at the local council.
Tom was state deputy for the State of Mississippi from 2001 to 2003 and had also held various other state positions. During his 10 years, he was recognized as top proposer of new members on the national level.
He was treasury and chief financial officer for Cappaert Housing for 23 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol J. Chady; his mother, Doris Chady; and his sister, Pat Pavai.
Survivors include his daughter, Carrie Chady Rundhaug and her husband, Robin, of Greenville, N.C.; his father, Edward Chady of Louisville, Ky.; brothers, Eddie Chady of Memphis, Bob Chady of Deltona, Fla., Steve Chady of Denver, Colo., and Bill Chady of Louisville; his sisters, Anne Monsour and Sue Pearson, both of Louisville; and friends at Cappaert Housing..
A Mass of the Resurrection was at 10 today at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. P.J. Curley officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation was from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Riles Funeral Home with Knights of Columbus prayers at 7 p.m.
Pallbearers were Rusty Andes, Mike Cappaert, Bill Chady, Eddie Chady, Steve Chady, John Piazza Sr., Greg Rottman and Thomas Thornton.
Honorary pallbearers were Bob Chady and the members of the Knights of Columbus Council 898.
