With the first half of the season in the rearview, the St. Aloysius Flashes find themselves in a nice position.

At 2-2, what looked like it might be a rebuilding year has developed into one with a lot of promise. The defense has been nearly impenetrable. And, as they head into the Region 4-1A schedule starting Friday night on the road at Bogue Chitto (2-2), the team’s first playoff berth since 2006 is a very real possibility.

“We’re definitely building. Every week we want to get better and eliminate mistakes. We’ve done that, and we still need to eliminate turnovers and score points,” St. Al coach B.J. Smithhart said. “Just keep plugging along. If we cut out mistakes and finish drives, we’ll be in good shape.”
