Carr Central High School closed its doors in 1959, but still celebrates homecoming — of a sort.
Friday at 5 p.m., students who attended the former city school will gather at the Vicksburg Convention Center for their fourth all-class reunion.
“We have people coming from all over the United States,” said Ethel Pickens, one of the reunion’s planners. “It’s become part of their plans now. For many of them, their parents are no longer living and they don’t necessarily have families to come home to. This has become a real homecoming for the alumni.”
