Hiding teen charged in burglaries

Police responding to a burglary call on Thursday found a teen hiding out in a kitchen cabinet.

Witnesses told police a man had kicked in the door to the apartment, in the 400 block of Locust Street, said Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart. Cops searched using a K-9 officer, and found a 15-year-old boy hiding in a cabinet.

The teen is also linked to a Sept. 15 burglary in the 1200 block of Fayette Street, Stewart said.

The boy is accused of two counts of residential burglary, Stewart said, and it was undetermined if he would be charged as an adult. The teen was being held at the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center today, awaiting an initial court appearance.

Electronics hot on Cherry, Valley

Two home burglaries were reported in Vicksburg Thursday, said Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart.

A 32-inch Visio TV valued at $589 and a Nintendo Wii game system valued at $300 were reported missing at 4:20 p.m. from a home in the 2200 block of Cherry Street.

A few hours later, at 7:30, a Compaq desktop computer valued at $600 and a Kodak digital printer valued at $100 were reported missing from a home in the 1300 block of Valley Street.
