B&Bs showing support for military with free night’s stay

More than 400 bed and breakfast inns across the country and five in Canada are offering free rooms on the night of Nov. 10 to all members of the military, past and present.

The idea for the nationwide movement to give veterans a free night’s stay — the night before the national observation of Veterans Day — started with Kathleen Panek, owner of the Gillum House in Shinnston, W.Va. “These are trying times for anyone serving or who has served, and a good night’s rest is our way to say thank-you,” she said.

The movement is gaining popularity in Vicksburg.
