KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Betty Jean Hooper James, formerly of Vicksburg, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was 54.

Mrs. James was a former Vicksburg resident. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Knoxville. She was a nurse at the Little Creek Sanitarium.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Hooper Sr.; a brother, Preston Green; and sister, Amy Hooper Blackman.

She is survived by her husband, Roosevelt James Jr. of Knoxville; two sons, Ramondo Earl Jones and Cedric Leon James, both of Knoxville; her mother, Ora Lee Hooper of Chicago; three sisters, Helen O’Neal of Chicago, Barbara Allen of Dayton, Ohio, and Linda Majors of Knoxville; two brothers, James Matthews and Joe Hooper Jr., both of Chicago; a granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy Franklin officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel.
