Just more than a year ago, the future of the Over the River Run was in serious jeopardy.

Declining participation, questions about using the Old Mississippi River Bridge and the departure of a longtime organizing committee seemed to spell doom for the event.

Just two days before the 22nd annual run, on Saturday, almost 500 people have preregistered for the 5-mile run and race-walk across the Old Mississippi River Bridge.
