City man charged with felony in attack

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning charged with domestic violence and aggravated assault, said Sgt. Sandra Williams of the Vicksburg Police Department.

Andre Gaines, 28, 1415 Hayes St., Apt. B, was arrested at 9 a.m. Sunday, at his home after police received a complaint of domestic violence.

The case is a felony because Gaines is accused of strangulation. According to a Mississippi law effective this year, domestic attacks in which strangulation is used is a felony.

Gaines was in the Warren County Jail this morning on a $30,000 bond.

City man charged with felony eluding

A Vicksburg man who took off from a police roadblock on Clay Street was being held at police headquarters this morning.

Delvin Green, 25, 451 Hall Road, sped away from the roadblock on Clay at Melborn Place at about 2 and drove to Pierce Street, where he jumped from his car and ran before being caught by officers in nearby woods, Sgt. Sandra Williams of the Vicksburg Police Department said.

He was charged with felony eluding and was to be transferred to the Warren County Jail today.
