A recap of how players with ties to the Vicksburg area did in college football games played over the weekend.

• Mississippi College defensive back Horace Allen (Vicksburg High) had four solo tackles and six assists in a 28-20 loss to East Texas Baptist on Saturday.

• Mississippi College running back Austin Divinity (Hinds AHS) carried the ball eight times for 26 yards in the loss to ETBU. Divinity also caught one pass for minus-1 yard and made one solo tackle.

• Defensive tackle Larry Walker (Warren Central) had one solo tackle, two assists, one-half sack and a forced fumble for Mississippi College.

• Mississippi State special teamer Marvin Bure (Vicksburg High) had one solo tackle in a 10-7 victory over then-No. 22 Florida.

• Southern Miss safety Chico Hunter (Warren Central) had two solo tackles and two assists in a 41-19 rout of Memphis.

• Jackson State wide receiver Anthony Mayes (Hinds AHS) caught two passes for 28 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown, in a wild 49-45 victory over Southern University. Mayes also had a 26-yard kickoff return.

• Delta State defensive back Garrett Williams (South Delta) had a team-high 10 solo tackles, four assists, 2 ½ tackles for loss and a sack in a 38-35 loss to Harding.

• Louisiana-Lafayette wide receiver Vernon Wolfe (Vicksburg High) returned two kickoffs for 28 yards in a 31-24 loss to Troy.

• Grambling’s Bennie Peoples (Warren Central) started at right tackle in a 38-28 win over Alcorn State and helped the Tigers rush for 253 yards as a team.

• Arkansas State’s Derek Newton (Hinds AHS) started at right tackle in a 36-34 loss to Indiana and helped the Red Wolves accumulate 337 yards of total offense. He also had one solo tackle.

• North Texas defensive tackle Kelvin Jackson (Port Gibson) had three solo tackles and an assist in a 34-10 loss to Florida International.
