The Southern Heritage Air Show will return next weekend after a three-year hiatus, promising two days of high-flying action.
Festivities begin a day earlier this year, with a twilight show at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Gates open at 9 a.m. Saturday, and the main show starts at noon.
The AeroShell Acrobatic Team’s array of North American AT-6 craft will perform swooping dives and dips, and a 12,000-horsepower jet truck will burn rubber at 300 miles per hour. Ten vintage World War II Warbirds will fly in formation over the skies of the Mound airport, which will also stage airplane and helicopter rides, radio-controlled airplanes and children’s activities.
