Thanks to Boland

All too often in our busy lives, we sometimes do not take the time to say “thank you” or “good job.” Our elected officials are most overlooked.

Jerry Boland has done a remarkable job as our school board representative. He is supportive of our kids in every aspect. He attends games and programs within the school district and cheers for our kids regardless of the score.

Since having two children in the Vicksburg Warren School District, I did not understand some of the changes, programs or procedures, especially the intercession program. I reached out to Jerry Boland early in the fall semester of the 2010 school year looking for answersand he took the time to explain the context of the program, its goals and his hopes that we, as a district, would see some improvement on our test scores with this new system. As a parent and stakeholder in the school district, I appreciated the time he took and the explanation that was given. Six months later, Jerry approached me and we had a lengthy discussion about the welfare and education of our children in Warren County. At that point I realized that he was sincere and concerned. This wasn’t just a job for him. He was really reaching out to individuals searching for answers to some of the problems we are facing as a community.

The election is right around the corner for our school board representative as well as other important offices. I have seen signs around our neighborhoods talking about change for this elected position. Sometimes change is necessary, but I do not feel that in this case. I just want to say “thank you” to Jerry Boland for an excellent job that you have done in representing district 1.
