A Vicksburg teen was in the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center this morning on charges he carried a stolen gun onto school property during Friday night’s cross-town rivalry game between Warren Central and Vicksburg high school football teams, said Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart.

It was one of two weekend arrests for possession of a stolen weapon.

The 16-year-old was arrested at 8:24 p.m. Friday during the football game at Memorial Stadium. The Cobra .22-caliber pistol had been reported stolen May 12 from a 2002 Chrysler Concorde, Stewart said.

The teen also is being charged with possession of a weapon while on school property.

The teen was awaiting an initial hearing and being held without bond this morning, Stewart said.

In the second arrest, a Vicksburg man, Dominic Turner, 20, 202 East St., was picked up at about 2 this morning outside the Elks Club, 916 Walnut St.

After police responded to a report of an escalating argument, they saw Turner put something in his back pocket, patted him down and found a Ruger 9 mm reported stolen Dec. 30, 2008, from a 1986 Chevrolet Caprice, Stewart said.

Turner was in the Warren County Jail this morning without bond, pending an initial court hearing, Stewart said.
