CUMBERLAND, R.I. — Maurice V. Geisenberg, ordained as Brother Nicholas Geisenberg S.C., died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at Mount St. Rita Health Center in Cumberland, R.I. He was 98.

Brother Nicholas was the son of the late Mamie Palermo and Isaac Geisenberg. He entered the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in 1932 and served in schools in New Jersey, New York and Louisiana. He ministered in numerous capacities at St. Aloysius in Vicksburg and Cor Jesu and Brother Martin high schools, both in New Orleans.

He retired in 2003 to Bay St. Louis and, after Hurricane Katrina, moved to the Brothers’ retirement community in Pascoag, R.I.

A funeral Mass will be at 1:30 today at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 775 Harrison Ave. in New Orleans. Burial will be at 4:30 today at Brothers Cemetery in Bay St. Louis under the direction of Fahey Funeral Home.
