Droves of voters braved this morning’s bad weather to vote early in today’s general election, as foot traffic was heavier than normal in Warren County’s 22 precincts where people were casting ballots in congressional, school board, justice court and the state appellate court races.

“For a rainy day, this is a good turnout,” said American Legion poll manager Deborah Washington.

Voters arrived in twos and threes at the Monroe Street precinct and at Vicksburg Junior High School, the largest inside the city. Officials at both said the early turnout was high, considering the inclement weather — 32 by 7:35 a.m. at the Legion and 32 by 7:45 a.m. at the school. Both are among 10 precincts spread over the city and parts of the county which will decide the race for justice court in Warren County’s central district.
